The project to 1595 Telesat Court, Ottawa, Ontario consists of the total renovation to the existing eight stories, approximately 126,000 gross square feet on 3.811 acres. The existing building will be completely dismantled down to the bare concrete structure before being rebuilt. The external work involves the complete removal, redesign and construction of a new cladding and building envelope system.
The new Class “A” facility will be a Call Centre, supported with a warming kitchen, servery and vendateria for the staff. A Technology Equipment Room will provide and maintain 24-hour telecommunication capability. Typical floors are open office space. Elevators will be modernized and a new elevator and new washrooms will be provided. The new facility will be fully supported with emergency stand by generation.
Site improvements include high quality hard and soft landscaping, upgrading and repair to existing parking lots, lighting, and curbing.
The ambitious demolition and construction program began on August 3rd, 2004 and ready for occupancy in May 2005.
On the first day of demolition, August 3rd, 2004, work crews numbered 94, and grew to over 120 workers by the second day. As of November 30th, 2004 (4 months), the site averaged over 100 workers, resulting in ZERO loss time injuries!
